Before we dive into Lisa's project, an FYI: While I wrote 100% of Lisa's website copy (and did her SEO), I also did her brand and website design. I currently only offer website copywriting and would love to help with your project, and to recommend a fantastic website designer to partner with us for a flawless effect, start to finish. There's actually nothing better than a start-to-finish project, in my opinion – especially when it's for the most fun, vibrant, and relatable eating disorder dietitian around.
Meet Lisa McGlothlin, founder of Lisa McG Nutrition Therapy, cat mom, reality TV fanatic, ice cream connoisseur. I got to work on Lisa's brand, copy, SEO, and website design – and can't wait to take you behind the scenes!
About the Client
Lisa McGlothlin is an experienced, talented eating disorder dietitian nutritionist in Monterey, CA. With extensive experience at all levels of care (she sees clients through her own office, as well as working with clients in more intensive day & residential treatment) and a rock-solid treatment philosophy, she's on a mission to provide a fun and relatable approach to recovery.
About the Project
I got to create every.single.aspect of Lisa's project, and it couldn't have been more fun. From the boho-leaning, citrus-inspired branding to the personality-packed copy, I enjoyed basically every single second I spent working on this website!
Brand Identity
We really wanted to focus on making Lisa's brand feel fun and welcoming, since she works in a specialty that's often very serious and clinical. The hand-drawn illustrations & icons were an instant favorite for me – especially that little popsicle moment. 😍
Whenever I design for a healthcare and wellness provider (especially one working in eating disorders), I'm very intentional to include variety in the food and/or concepts represented, so that the overall effect is encouraging without being overwhelming. Lisa's ice cream & popsicle icons are balanced by the citrus & leaf illustrations, creating engaging visuals that don't lean too far towards “safe” or “challenge” foods.
Favorite Moments
The copy, the copy, the COPY. I find that a lot of health and wellness websites can lean way too far in the direction of clinical + salesy – which is ultimately going to turn off your audience.
For Lisa's website, I wanted to write copy that felt like you're chatting to her – human to human. By starting with a deeeeeep dive into her target audience (and what they want, and why they want it) – we were able to pull concepts directly from her clients' words and experiences to create a message that hits home.
And obviously, I'm a huge fan of when your website can work harder for you and save you time – which is why we added a referrals page to Lisa's site.
Lisa's home base is California, where you need a physician referral to see a dietitian. It's a major roadblock to taking action on working with one – which is why we leveraged this page to make the process easy for both clients and providers (and Lisa, of course)!
From The Client
“I'm SO excited for my brand and website to launch. It was SO exciting the first time I saw my copy, which is TRULY my favorite part.
Amy was able to nail down my personality so well, which has been my biggest difficulty in my online presence thus far. Now that my website is coming together, I'm STOKED for everything to launch and to see my brand, the website and the copy all working together!
This project was so, so worth it.
I highly recommend Amy, ESPECIALLY if you are a weight-neutral, anti-diet dietitian–and/or someone working in the world of eating disorders. She just gets it. I'm excited to see how this launch supports my private practice in growing!”
