I never thought I’d say these words…
But I’m quitting Instagram in 2025.
Well, I’m quitting my Instagram feed (and cutting way back on stories).
Before we get into the why, a brief journey to the past:
Before Hello & Co (like, way before. Circa 2016!) – I had another business in the wellness industry and Instagram was My Thing.
As in, I grew an account rapidly to 20k subscribers, had multiple posts go viral, and was posting multiple times per day.
From the outside, I’d made it. I even had the elusive “swipe up” feature in stories that let you add links (and used to only be available for accounts with 10k subscribers – again, I’m dating myself).
On the inside, I made… almost no money.
I had maybe 4 weekly clients and only stressed about vanity metrics (and paid zero attention to the conversion side of Instagram), which meant that all the content I created was for nothing.
Well, not nothing – but ya girl’s gotta eat.
And the same has been true for Hello & Co, because even though 16% of my leads come from Instagram – NONE OF THEM are from content. They’re from me introducing myself, or a former client who refers them and they DM me.
So I’m simply not going to f*ck with Instagram content in 2025.
Because not only is IG content not how I get clients, it also…
- Distracts me when I’m trying to do other stuff
- Keeps me stuck trying to document moments instead of taking them and tasting them
- Activates my comparison-itis (it’s chronic and treatment-resistant)
- Isn’t reflective of my skills, because I don’t like creating for it (and forced content is bad content, period)
Here's How I'm Marketing My Business Instead
Improving My Client Experience
Which, if you ask my clients, is already pretty fantastic – but since quite a few of my projects come from past clients with business-y friends, I'm pouring even more focus into making it easy for my clients to:
- Have a damn good (and easy!) time with our project
- See results from their copy, ofc
- Leave me reviews
- Share with friends
Flirting With Google
Specifically, through keyword-optimized blog posts that increase my visibility. All of my main website pages (like Home, About, and Services) are already optimized and doing their thing – so my focus is now increasing the number of keywords I get traffic from (one keyword per post).
Threads For Days
I'm obsessed with the quick, easy format that Threads provides for short-form content – AKA, content I can post with one hand while making toddler snacks with the other. I've been committed to using it more seriously for a few months already and seeing more newsletter subscribers + inquiries, so I won't be leaving anytime soon!
My Weekly Thursday Newsletter
It's far and away my favorite thing I do for marketing in my business (and for other people's businesses, through welcome sequence add-ons with website copy)!
It's also the place I get THE most engagement (with replies, comments, tags, etc) and feels like a direct way to provide value, since I often focus it on actionable tips to make your website better/book more clients/work less.

If you want to quit (the social media you hate), the first step is your website –
Refreshing your SEO, upgrading your copy to be reflective of your actual, real life voice and impact, and making it ultra-easy for people to find (and say HELL YES to working with) you.
And of course, I'd be a shitty copywriter if I didn't end on a call to action to make me *your* copywriter, so you can actually leave Instagram in the dust while you book even more dream clients. Here's how I can do it!
