Before we dive into Vanessa's project, an FYI: While I wrote 100% of Vanessa's website copy (and did her SEO), I also did her brand and website design. I currently only offer website copywriting and would love to help with your project, and to recommend a fantastic website designer to partner with us for a flawless effect, start to finish. If we're being fully honest, I was a liiiiittle nervous to take on Vanessa's project – because the financial details are not my forté. I can understand basic numbers and reports, and keep everything neatly filed away – but beyond that, talk of balance sheets and inventory kiiiind of makes my eyes glaze over.
But then I realized: that actually made me perfect to write Vanessa's new bookkeeping website – because her ideal clients are exactly like me – they either have an understand of bookkeeping but don't have the time or inclination to DIY, or they don't have the capacity because they're busy scaling their businesses.
And breaking down complex topics into digestible, high-converting website copy? Kinda my thing, and I'm so delighted with how Vanessa's website turned out.
But that's enough about me – meet Vanessa, owner of SC Books Co Bookkeeping Services.
About the Client
Vanessa Rodriguez is a bookkeeper and fractional CFO serving businesses of all shapes and sizes through thoughtful, boutique bookkeeping services.
Her entire thing? Taking the stress, worry, and confusion out of the necessary details of bookkeeping – so business owners can focus on their zone of genius and what lights them up. Because at the end of the day, bookkeeping is not only a necessary part of running your business, but the key to being able to make smart decisions around growing, pulling back, and investing.
Not only is Vanessa fantastic at her job, she is so easy to talk to, and I wanted to ensure that was communicated clearly on her site. She's not stuffy, doesn't use jargon and confuse you, and legit cares about her clients – and all of that came through in our discussions and her website copy.
The Add-Ons
Vanessa's lead magnet and email welcome sequence are some of my favorite parts of her entire website – like all of the content, they're tailored to exactly what Vanessa's ideal clients need when they find her.
The key to a perfect lead magnet? Considering what mindset or problem your ideal clients are struggling with while they're looking for your website. Vanessa's clients don't need a guide to DIY bookkeeping (they want to hire her!) – they need an immediate win to help detangle their financials and get to know her.
Enter: “How to Get Your (Financial) Life Together” Vanessa's 5-step guide to better books and more time (and money) back in your life.
We paired thoughtful, actionable steps that are easy to take with a warm introduction to Vanessa and a welcome sequence that addresses allllll of the things her audience struggles with before hiring her.
The Positioning
In our kickoff and strategy call, Vanessa and I talked about her ideal client and why they hire her. One of the things I love most about working with people in the financial industry is the endless opportunity to stand out and make your marketing more than the basics.
The key to great website copy is to unpack what your audience is really looking for, and in Vanessa's case: it goes so much deeper than books. She works clients across every industry (like, wholesale e-commerce and a professional comedian? Why is she the coolest) and ultimately, what they want is more time back on their plates, and to not be stressed about how they're handling money.
I'm obsessed with the copy above that let us capture the concept that Vanessa's clients have goals that vary wildly, yet she's able to help all of them reach their goals by helping them focus on the big picture.
The Review
(Yes, I absolutely blushed when reading this)
“Amy has been an absolute dream to work with! I tried writing my website copy on my own and I could never get it to express my personality. Amy came in and blew me away with all of her talents. Not only was she able to capture my voice perfectly, she was also able to be mindful about SEO (something I never even thought about). If you're on the fence about working with Amy, don't think, just do it! You'll be glad you did!”

Please note that changes may have been made to client copy after launch that do not reflect the original design or work of Hello & Co.
